| Opmerkingen |
Jamaica's 1 Pound notes of the 1940 series were issued under the Currency Notes Law and circulated alongside sterling at par — a deliberate policy maintaining Jamaica's position within the sterling area while the Colonial Office managed exchange controls tightening across the British Caribbean during the war years. De La Rue's London plant continued producing colonial currency throughout the Blitz, a logistical achievement that often goes unacknowledged.
P#40 is the blue-tinted revision of the series, distinguished from the earlier green-dominant issues. Notes that returned to circulation saw heavy use in Kingston's market economy, and genuinely uncirculated survivors from this wartime print run are uncommon.
