Obverse description Black letterpress on white paper. A portrait vignette of King George V is positioned at the upper left, flanked at upper right by a circular vignette of St. George slaying the dragon. The central panel carries the large guilloche-framed denomination legend ONE POUND in intaglio, with the full legal tender text above and the issuing authority inscription below, concluding with the facsimile signature of the Secretary to the Treasury and the prefix and serial number at lower centre.
