Obverse description The obverse is dominated by Arabic inscriptions arranged across the field without a central effigy. The country name legend جمهورية مصر العربية (Arab Republic of Egypt) curves along the upper portion of the coin. At centre, the denomination ١ جنيه (1 Pound) is prominently displayed, flanked by the dual dating ١٤٤٠ هـ (AH 1440) to the right and ٢٠١٩ (AD 2019) to the left. Along the lower arc of the field, the commemorative inscription ١٥٠ عاما على إنشاء كلية الحقوق (150 Years on the Establishment of the Faculty of Law) is inscribed. Additional information

Cairo University's Faculty of Law is among the oldest in the Arab world, established in 1906 under French legal influence at a time when Egypt's judicial system was navigating mixed courts that gave foreign nationals separate legal standing. That institutional tension — between European-imposed legal frameworks and Egyptian sovereignty — shaped the faculty's foundational curriculum for decades.

Egypt has issued a steady stream of university commemoratives in .720 silver since the 1990s, most in modest quantities destined for collector sets rather than circulation.
