| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design features a large stylised monogram composed of the letters V and E, symbolising Victory in Europe, superimposed over a depiction of two doves in flight, representing peace. At the base of the central motif, the shield of Alderney is depicted in low relief. The commemorative dates 1945 and 1995 flank the lower portion of the design, separated by the shield. The circumferential legend reads PEACE IN EUROPE · ONE POUND · 1945 1995 · in raised Latin capitals around the periphery of the field. |

Alderney's position in this commemorative market is peculiar — the island issues legal tender through a Crown dependency arrangement, but coins rarely if ever circulate domestically. The 1995 VE Day series was timed to the 50th anniversary commemorations, during which Alderney held particular significance: the island had been the only British territory under German military occupation for the entirety of the war, evacuated in June 1940 and not liberated until May 9, 1945 — one day after the formal German surrender.
