Jersey has issued commemorative pounds with some regularity, but the Trooping the Colour release sits within the broader wave of 2022 Platinum Jubilee issues — Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne, the longest reign in British history. The ceremony itself dates to 1748 and has marked the sovereign's official birthday ever since, though Elizabeth famously attended her final Trooping in June 2022, just weeks before her death in September.
