Additional information

Struck to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, this issue was one of dozens of similar commemoratives produced across Crown Dependencies and Commonwealth territories in 1972. Jersey's version was among the more restrained in its ambitions — a small island administration with limited minting infrastructure contracted production rather than operating its own facility.

The .925 silver specification places it in line with traditional sterling standard, though by 1972 that choice was purely symbolic. Decimal coinage had arrived in Britain just the previous year, and commemorative silver was already drifting toward the collector market rather than circulation.
