Reverse description The reverse depicts the full Royal Arms of the United Kingdom as engraved by Eric Sewell, centrally composed around a quartered shield bearing the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (a rampant lion), and Ireland (a harp), surmounted by the Imperial State Crown. The shield is supported to the dexter by a crowned lion guardant rampant and to the sinister by a unicorn passant collared and chained, both rendered in fine detail. Encircling the shield is the Garter belt bearing the motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE, while a compartment below displays the floral badges of England, Scotland, and Ireland flanked by a scroll bearing the motto DIEU ET MON DROIT. The denomination ONE POUND is inscribed in the lower field, and the entire composition is enclosed within a raised beaded border.
