| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by Stuart Devlin, features a large circular shield bearing the Cross of St George — the heraldic emblem of the City of London — with the vertical arm of the cross rendered as a sword. Three smaller roundels are arranged at the base of the shield, each containing a heraldic device associated with London: at lower left the arms of the City of London showing a lion and the cross, at centre the arms of Westminster, and at lower right a depiction of the Tower of London. The inscriptions ONE and POUND flank the central design on the left and right respectively, with LONDON arching across the top of the inner border. |
