Reverse description A mature English oak tree rendered in high relief occupies the central field, its spreading canopy of lobed leaves and acorns filling the upper portion of the design. The trunk of the tree passes through the arch of a Royal Crown — representing the Royal Diadem — positioned at mid-field, the crown's jewelled band and fleurs-de-lis clearly delineated. The denomination ONE POUND is inscribed in bold letters along the lower periphery, with a beaded border encircling the entire reverse.
