Beschrijving voorzijde The third definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Raphael David Maklouf, occupies the centre of the obverse as a right-facing crowned and draped bust. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace with a teardrop earring, rendered in fine relief characteristic of the proof striking. The surrounding legend reads 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'D·G·REG·F·D·1997' to the right, with the engraver's initials 'RDM' incuse at the base of the truncation. A beaded border frames the design throughout.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse displays the Royal Arms of England, comprising three passant guardant lions arranged in pale, filling the field in bold high relief as rendered by engraver Norman Sillman. Each lion is depicted with a naturalistically detailed mane, extended claws, and a sweeping tail, their bodies oriented to the dexter in the heraldic tradition. The design occupies virtually the entire reverse field, lending a powerful and commanding visual impression. The denomination 'ONE POUND' is inscribed along the lower portion within the beaded border. The composition closely references the historic arms of England as borne since the reign of Richard I.
