Aanvullende informatie

The East India Company ceased to exist as a trading and governing body in 1858, dissolved by the British Crown following the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The name was revived in 2005 as a London-based luxury goods brand with no legal or institutional continuity from the original Company. These modern issues are struck under a licensing arrangement exploiting the historic name — they are not products of any sovereign mint or government authority, and "1 Pound" carries no legal tender status in any jurisdiction that would make the denomination meaningful.
