Additional information

Alderney has used its Crown Dependency status to issue commemorative coinage since the 1990s, operating largely as a vehicle for the collectibles market rather than producing currency intended for circulation. The 65th coronation anniversary fell in 2018 — an interval marked simply because the 60th and 70th had already been or would be covered. There is no particular constitutional or royal significance to the 65th year.

The .917 fineness is standard 22-carat coin gold, the same alloy used for British sovereigns since 1817.
