Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II D G REG FID DEF IRB 1 POUND
(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description A bold, classical standing figure of Britannia occupies the centre of the field, helmeted and robed, holding a trident in her left hand and a shield bearing the Union Flag in her right, with a lion passant at her feet. The design reflects the long tradition of Britannia imagery on British coinage, rendered in a clean, modern engraving style by Jody Clark. The inscription BRITANNIA arcs above the figure, with the purity, weight, and date legend arranged around the lower portion of the field. The initials J.C. appear discreetly within the design, attributing the reverse to the engraver.
