Reverse description The central design, engraved by Edwina Ellis, depicts the Egyptian Arch railway bridge located near Bessbrook in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, rendered in a detailed front-facing perspective that emphasises its characteristic semicircular arch and flanking pylons adorned with stylised lotus or palm leaf motifs. The bridge's bold stone masonry and decorative Egyptian Revival architectural detailing fill the inner field, enclosed within a raised circular border. The denomination ONE POUND is inscribed along the lower periphery in capital letters. An ornate milled and beaded border frames the entire reverse design.
