The Falkland Islands pound has been pegged at parity with sterling since 1983, a deliberate policy decision taken in the immediate aftermath of the 1982 conflict to stabilize the territory's economy and reinforce ties with Britain. Falkland coinage circulates alongside UK currency on the islands, though it is not accepted in the United Kingdom itself.
