| Additional information |
The Isle of Man has long operated its own coinage independently of the Royal Mint, with the Pobjoy Mint in Surrey striking the majority of its modern issues. This pound series coincided with the transition away from the Machin effigy — Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, adopted on UK coinage in 1998, made its way onto Manx issues on a slightly different schedule, creating brief overlapping portrait periods within the island's catalog that account for the dual Schön references here.
