| Reverse description | The central device, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, depicts an oil derrick (drilling tower) to the left, flanked by stylized geological strata and rock formations. A mining ore cart laden with minerals appears at center, and above it a circular emblem bearing two crossed geological hammers. The surrounding field carries the Arabic legend 'المساحة الجيولوجية المصرية' (Egyptian Geological Survey) along the upper arc, with the founding and centenary dates '١٨٩٦ - ١٩٩٦' to the left, and 'العيد المئوي' (Centennial Anniversary) along the lower arc. The design is framed by the same decorative rectangular-segmented border as the obverse. |
