Obverse description The coat of arms of Cyprus occupies the central field, depicting a white dove in flight carrying an olive branch within a heraldic shield, with the date 1960 inscribed below the dove, representing the year of independence. The shield is flanked by two crossed olive branches forming a wreath at the base. A trilingual legend surrounds the design along the rim, reading CYPRUS in English, ΚΥΠΡΟΣ in Greek, and KIBRIS in Turkish, separated by raised dots. The issue year 2000 appears in the lower portion of the legend, also separated by raised dots. The overall composition is rendered with the high-relief mirror fields and frosted devices characteristic of proof coinage.
