The insects are shown from above with outstretched wings and articulated legs, their abdomens rendered with exceptional entomological precision. To the left, the outer gold-coloured ring displays a repeating pattern of interlocking floral or Tudor-rose inspired geometric motifs, alongside the numeral '1' and the inscription POUND. The year 2023 appears repeatedly around the segmented outer rim of the coin. The contrasting frosted silver and polished gold-toned surfaces create a dramatic two-tone proof finish. |
