Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in blue with a dense lathe-work guilloche background of interlocking floral rosette patterns filling the field. A large central vignette within a circular frame depicts a seated classical female figure, possibly Britannia, resting beside an anchor with a sailing ship visible in the background, the whole inscribed "DITAT" across the upper arc. Corner panels carry the denomination numeral "1", and the printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons Ltd., London Wall, London appears along the lower margin.
