Opmerkingen

Bank of Ireland's pound notes of this period were issued under the Bankers' (Ireland) Act 1845, which gave the bank — along with a handful of other authorized institutions — the right to continue issuing their own notes alongside those of the Central Bank. That arrangement, a relic of pre-partition banking law, meant private commercial bank notes remained legal tender in the Republic well into the late twentieth century.

De La Rue's London facility handled the printing throughout the series run. Chestnutt served as Governor; O'Neill as Chief Cashier — both signatures are required under the note issue framework governing authorized banks.
