| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in green tones on a fine guilloche underprint with a lace-like border pattern. At centre-right, an intaglio vignette presents a busy historical scene of the Market at St. Peter Port, with market stalls and period figures in the foreground. To the left, the circular Guernsey State seal — bearing the three-lion heraldic shield — is enclosed within a laurel wreath, while the upper centre carries a large ornate £1 denomination device with acanthus scrollwork. The States Treasurer's signature and the obligation text appear to the right, with serial numbers at upper-left and lower-right. |
