The Isle of Man Government took direct control of note issuance in the early 1970s following the dissolution of the longstanding arrangement with the Westminster Bank, and this series reflects that transition. Bradbury Wilkinson, by then one of the most experienced security printers in the world, handled production at their New Malden facility throughout the run.
The signature progression across this single Pick number is unusually well-documented. Lieutenant Governor Paul's signature appears in two distinct widths — 26 mm and 20 mm — across different series prefixes, a printing plate adjustment that creates a genuinely useful die variety for specialists.
