The centre is occupied by an elaborate symmetrical guilloche rosette pattern composed of interlocking hexagonal and floral lathe-work medallions. Denomination appears in each corner as '£1' at upper left and lower right, and 'ONE' at upper right and lower left, all in bold serif lettering.
