| Obverse description | Central nickel-plated steel field depicts a stylised relief of a low-lying island landmass. The coat of arms of South Orkney Islands, surmounted by a five-pointed star, appears in the upper portion of the centre above the island. The dual denomination '£1' and '15 Pesos' flanks the coat of arms at left and right respectively. The bilingual issuer name 'South Orkney Islands' and 'Islas Orcadas del Sur' is inscribed in the copper-plated steel outer ring at the lower half, with the date '2015' appearing at the bottom of the ring. |
