| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, her hair elaborately curled and dressed in the Baroque style without a crown or diadem. The effigy shows the queen in a simple décolleté bodice, rendered in low relief consistent with the small module of the coin. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, interrupted at the base of the bust, running along the inner border of the coin's milled edge. |

| Reverse description | Central device depicts the Patrona Hungariae — the Virgin Mary enthroned, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left arm, the whole surrounded by a radiant glory of diverging rays filling the field. The mint mark 'K B' (Kremnica) appears divided to the left and right at the lower field, flanking the date '17-56' similarly split across the design. The denomination POLTURA is inscribed along the lower rim in large letters. The initials 'P H' appear in the upper field to either side of the Virgin's crown, referencing the Patrona Hungariae title. |
