正面描述 Draped laureate bust of Emperor Leopold I facing right, rendered in the elaborate late Baroque style characteristic of Habsburg coinage, with voluminous curled periwig falling over the shoulders. The portrait occupies the central field, surrounded by a circular beaded border. The legend LEOPOLDVS D G R I S A G H B REX runs continuously around the periphery, denoting his titles as Holy Roman Emperor and King of Hungary and Bohemia.

附加信息

These poltura pieces were struck not under Leopold I's authority but in defiance of it — issued during the Rákóczi uprising, the Hungarian and Transylvanian rebellion against Habsburg rule that began in 1703. Ferenc II Rákóczi's forces controlled the minting apparatus during this period, producing coins that bore Leopold's name while simultaneously fighting his armies. The attribution to Leopold is essentially a fiction of convenience; the coins served the rebellion's treasury.

The series was cut short by Leopold's death in 1705, though striking continued under the same types into Joseph I's reign.
