Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Leopold I facing right, rendered in the late Baroque style characteristic of Habsburg coinage. The imperial effigy occupies the central field, with the emperor's distinctive features including a prominent wig. The surrounding Latin legend reads LEOPOLDVS D·G·R·I·S·A·G·H·B·REX·, denoting his titles as Holy Roman Emperor and King of Austria, Bohemia, and Hungary. A beaded inner border frames the design.

Aanvullende informatie

By 1704, Transylvania was consumed by the Rákóczi uprising — Francis II Rákóczi's revolt against Habsburg rule that had erupted the previous year. This poltura was struck not under Leopold's actual authority in the region but as a contested issue during a period when imperial control over Transylvanian mints was fragmentary at best. Leopold himself died in 1705, never having suppressed the rebellion.

The kuruc forces would go on to strike their own copper polturas in enormous quantities, deliberately debased to fund the insurrection. This silver piece predates that flood of emergency coinage by a matter of months.
