附加信息

Mahmud Badaruddin II ruled Palembang through one of the most turbulent periods in the sultanate's history, navigating between Dutch and British imperial pressure until the Dutch finally abolished the sultanate outright in 1821 following his defeat and subsequent exile to Ternate. This pitis was struck during the relatively stable early years of his reign, before the Anglo-Dutch rivalry over Sumatra's pepper trade made Palembang a direct military flashpoint.

Tin coinage of this type was cast rather than struck, sourced from the sultanate's own deposits in the Bangka region — the same tin wealth that made Palembang worth fighting over in the first place.
