| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Adolphus Frederick IV, Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing wig curls in the late Baroque manner. The portrait occupies the central field, with the truncation of the bust at the lower rim. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy reading ADOLPHVS FRID. IV. D. G.
