背面描述 A front-facing portrait bust of Emilio Aguinaldo, first President of the Philippines, is rendered in high relief at the center of the field, depicted in military uniform with epaulettes visible at the shoulders. The birth and commemorative years 1869 and 1969 are inscribed in the field to the left and right of the effigy respectively, marking the centennial of his birth. The Tagalog legend IKASANDAANG TAONG KAARAWAN arcs along the upper periphery, translating as 'One-hundredth birthday,' while the name EMILIO AGUINALDO curves along the lower border, flanked by two small stars. The coin is struck to a prooflike finish with a beaded inner border.

附加信息

This coin was issued to mark the centennial of Emilio Aguinaldo's birth in 1869, the same year construction began on his famous house in Kawit, Cavite — the balcony of which he would use in 1898 to proclaim Philippine independence from Spain. Aguinaldo was still alive for that proclamation; he died in 1964 at age 94, meaning the centennial this coin commemorates fell just five years after his death.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas released several denominations in this commemorative series, but the one-peso silver remains the most substantial issue of the group.
