Beschrijving voorzijde The crowned shield of the East India Company dominates the central field, displaying the quartered arms of the Company flanked by heraldic supporters. The date 1809 appears in the exergue below the shield, while the denomination ONE PIE is inscribed above. A ribbon beneath the shield bears the motto AUSP:REGIS & SENAT:ANGLIAE, signifying issue by authority of the King and Parliament of England. The entire design is enclosed within a raised toothed border, characteristic of the Soho Mint's mechanically struck coinage.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse bears a trilingual inscription presenting the denomination in Persian, Bengali, and Devanagari scripts, reading Yek Pai Sikka in Persian and Ek Pai Sikka in the two Indic scripts. The legends are arranged concentrically within the field, reflecting the multilingual administrative policy of the Bengal Presidency. The design is plain and purely epigraphic, with no figurative elements, and is contained within a raised toothed rim consistent with the obverse. This format was characteristic of pattern coinage intended to serve the diverse linguistic population of Bengal.
