Obverse description The obverse features a bold, three-line Persian inscription in Nastaliq script filling the central field, reading 'Sana julus 37 Shah Alam Badshah' (In the 37th regnal year of Emperor Shah Alam). The Arabic numeral '37' (٣٧) appears prominently in the lower register, denoting the frozen regnal year of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. Small decorative diamond-shaped ornaments are interspersed between the lines of text. The legend is arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's face, with no border beading visible. The die-struck lettering is bold and deeply incuse, characteristic of Benares Mint production of this period.
