| Obverse description | The obverse bears a three-line Persian inscription filling the field, divided by two horizontal ruled lines. The upper register reads 'Shah' (king), the central register reads 'Alam Badshah' (Emperor Alam), and the lower register reads 'Julus 45' (regnal year 45), denoting the 45th year of the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. The legends are rendered in a bold Naskh script characteristic of late Mughal coinage issued under the Bengal Presidency. The coin surface shows typical flatness of machine-struck copper pice of this period. |
