Reverse description The reverse is divided into a three-by-three grid of nine square compartments, each containing one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism (Ashtamangala), with Tibetan script inscriptions accompanying several of the symbols. The symbols include the conch shell, the endless knot, the lotus flower, the treasure vase, the parasol, the pair of golden fish, the dharma wheel, and the victory banner, rendered in low to medium relief. The central compartment bears the principal Tibetan inscription denoting the denomination and issuing authority. The overall design reflects a strong Tibetan Buddhist iconographic tradition.
