| Reverse description | Central field dominated by a large ornamental Gothic letter L, the civic emblem of Lucca, with trefoil or clover-leaf terminals at each extremity, a characteristic decorative device of Lucchese coinage of this period. The letter is set within a beaded inner circle. The circumscribed legend, introduced by a cross pattée, reads SANTVS VVLTVS, a direct reference to the Holy Face relic, the palladium of the Republic of Lucca. |
