Obverse description Displayed eagle with wings spread, head turned to left, surmounted by a royal crown. The initials PP appear beneath the wings in the central field, denoting Philip II's regnal title Pater Patriae or his royal monogram. The surrounding circular legend is struck in Latin capital letters separated by pellet stops, partially visible on this heavily worn hammered flan.
