| Obverse description | Left-facing bareheaded bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, laureate with an olive branch and wearing her hair gathered in a chignon adorned with a floral sprig. The engraver's signature EM.LINDAUER appears in small letters along the lower field. The surrounding legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs around the periphery, separated by decorative floral stops at the base, all contained within an ornate beaded border of scroll motifs. |
