Saint Michael raises a sword in his right hand and holds a cross-bearing standard in his left, while Lucifer writhes below in a posture of defeat. The legend VIVIT DEVS (God lives) is arranged in two arcs flanking the composition, and the mint name ROMA appears in the lower exergue.
