The figure of the saint is rendered with vigorous baroque energy, his robes billowing in the wind, with rocky outcroppings and storm clouds visible in the background. The circular legend DEXTERA DOMINI EXALTAVIT ME — 'The right hand of the Lord hath exalted me' (Psalm 118:16) — runs along the upper periphery, emphasizing the divine protection of the Church.
