| Obverse description | Boldly rendered right-facing draped bust of Pope Alexander VIII, vested in pontifical cope richly decorated with ornate foliate engraving and wearing the camauro, occupying nearly the full field of the coin. The portrait is executed in high relief in the Baroque manner, with finely detailed curling hair and aged facial features. The circular legend ALEXANDER VIII PONT MAX surrounds the bust, with the regnal year numeral I at lower right. The engraver's signature HAMERANVS F appears in small letters along the lower left truncation. A finely toothed milled border frames the entire design. |
