Hieronymus von Colloredo, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg from 1772, is remembered less for his coinage than for dismissing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from his court employment in 1781 — a famously acrimonious separation that ended with Mozart being literally kicked out by Colloredo's steward. These small copper issues belong to the period immediately before that rupture, struck while Mozart was still theoretically in Salzburg's service.
