Obverse description Standing figure of the Wild Man (Wilder Mann), the legendary sylvan giant of the Harz Mountains, depicted facing forward and holding a uprooted pine tree over his right shoulder as his traditional attribute. The figure is rendered in a naive, provincial style characteristic of Hanoverian copper coinage of the period. The engraver's initials I.B.H. appear in the lower field, attributing the die to Johann Benjamin Hecht. The plain field surrounds the boldly struck central device.
