Pattern strikes in gold at this denomination are bureaucratic curiosities — produced not for circulation but almost certainly as presentation pieces for court distribution or to accompany formal documentation of a new coinage proposal. Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover maintained a notably active mint administration in the 1730s, and George II, simultaneously King of Great Britain, took sufficient interest in his Hanoverian territories to authorize such productions despite spending most of his reign in London. The KM#Pn7 designation reflects how thinly documented this piece remains in the primary literature.
