| Beschrijving keerzijde | Five-line inscription occupying the entire field, reading the denomination and monetary designation in Latin capital letters. Two small six-pointed star ornaments flank the numeral '1' at the top of the inscription, serving as decorative separators. | Aanvullende informatie |
Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover was one of the more administratively tangled of the German states, and by 1729 its ruler George II was simultaneously King of Great Britain — a personal union that left the Electorate's domestic coinage largely to local bureaucrats while the king governed from London. Small copper issues like this one were produced for purely local circulation, the British crown having no interest in Hanoverian petty coinage beyond keeping the territory stable.
