Obverse description The Imperial German eagle (Reichsadler) displayed in high relief at center, rendered in the Type 2 style with wings spread and head turned to the viewer's left, surmounted by the Imperial crown. A small quartered escutcheon bearing the Hohenzollern arms is superimposed on the eagle's breast, flanked by elaborate acanthus scrollwork and decorative mantling at the base. The mint mark 'E' for Muldenhütten appears in the lower field beneath the ornamental foliage, with a second 'E' visible to its right.

Reverse description The large bold numeral '1' occupies the central field, serving as the primary design element. The circular legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' arcs along the upper rim in raised capital letters, while the date '1906' descends along the right side and the denomination 'PFENNIG' is inscribed along the lower rim, separated from the date by raised dot stops. The flat, lightly textured field gives the design a clean, proof-like appearance consistent with its pattern status.
