| Obverse description | Central field features a shield bearing three lozenge-shaped charges arranged in a triangular pattern, characteristic of the arms of the Palatinate-Simmern line. The shield is surmounted by the initial letter 'S' for Count Stephan, rendered in Gothic style. The entire device is encircled by a prominent border of large beads, typical of hammered bracteate-style pfennigs of the early fifteenth century. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and shallow relief consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. |
