Obverse description Frontal enthroned effigy of Sophia of Brabant, shown facing, wearing a crown surmounted by a cross, and depicted in hierarchical Byzantine-influenced style with robes rendered in stylized parallel folds. The figure holds two lily-headed scepters, one in each hand, extending outward symmetrically. The portrait is framed within a beaded inner circle, with the legend +SOFIA DVCIS arranged around the periphery in Gothic majuscule letters.
