Silvester Stodewescher held the archbishopric of Riga from 1448 until his death in 1479, a tenure defined by persistent conflict with the Livonian Order over jurisdictional authority in the region. These small billon pfennigs were struck throughout that contested period, functioning as everyday transactional currency in a city where the Hanseatic trade network made even minor denominations economically significant. The circle privy mark distinguishes this emission from related types catalogued by Haljak and Fedorov, pointing to a specific phase of production rather than the full archiepiscopal run.
