Obverse description Central field displays a stylized Palatinate lion passant set within a beaded or plain inner circle, rendered in the crude, bold relief characteristic of mid-15th century hammered bracteate-style pfennigs. The flan is irregular and roughly square in outline, exhibiting the uneven edges typical of hand-cut medieval planchets. The design is deeply struck, with the lion motif filling the available field. No legend is present on this side. The surface retains a dark patina consistent with the 'Schwarzpfennig' designation.
